BACK TO SCHOOL!

September is quickly approaching, and students are preparing to return on September 7th.

This year our Meet the Teacher BBQ will occur on Thursday September 9th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.  Come out and meet the staff at Osgoode Public (rain or shine)!

At the BBQ the OPS Parent Council will also be hosting a Silent Auction.  For anyone who may have items or services to donate, please contact Penny MacDonald at pjmacd@xplornet.com or by phone at 613 826-1518.

OUR SCHOOL

Osgoode Public School offers a JK to grade 6 English program that is proud of its dedication to students, its priority on teamwork, the involvement of parents, and strong community support.  Starting in September 2009, Early French Immersion has become available to students.  In September 2010, OPS will offer Early French Immersion kindergarten and grade one.  The program will be expanded by one grade per year until grade 6 when French Immersion students will feed into Castor Valley for grades 7 and 8.

The school, located at 5590 Osgoode Main Street, is a big part of the streetscape in the village of Osgoode, Ontario.  It serves a community that is a blend of old / new, rural, village and riverfront development.  The mission of the school is to provide to our students an academic program of the highest quality in a warm and caring setting.

Osgoode P.S. has an enrolment of 175 students who are actively engaged in their learning.  When our students graduate from the grade 6 English program, they attend Metcalfe P.S.

Osgoode PS has highly motivated teachers on staff, assisted by 2 excellent Educational Assistants.  The office is competently run by our hard working Office Administrator, Mrs. Barbara Hunter.  She is assisted by Mrs. Judy Milley who works part time.  The school library is open for book exchanges on Tuesdays and Thursdays when our library technician, Mrs. Linda Edwards is working.  We have devoted volunteers who keep the library well organized on a regular basis.  Our Chief Custodian, Mr. Luc Champagne, takes great pride in keeping OPS spotless and well maintained.  Osgoode PS has access to OCDSB support services in Speech and Language, Occupational and Physical Therapy, Social Work and Psychology.

We are proud of the warm and caring family atmosphere in the school with special attention paid to the individual needs of each child.  Our staff is building a strong professional learning community by continually upgrading our training and learning/sharing with each other.
